Soloing Exercise: Play the Space!
Some of my biggest breakthroughs as a guitarist have been the result of trying to look at things I do from a completely different perspective. This soloing exercise is an example of this.
Exercise
Instead of playing notes/licks/ideas think about 'playing space' instead.
In other words, make your solo all about the space (rather than the notes).
Sounds weird I know, but I've found this a powerful way to practice and develop my soloing - it forces me to think in a different way and discover things I would probably never normally do.
The result: new ideas, new approaches, and a different perspective. ;-)
In this lesson I'll explain and demonstrate this improvisation exercise - try it out an see for yourself.
Thanks for watching and catch up next time!
